I can't help but feel these reinterpretations of the experience of actively reading in glorious solitude are another assault/invasion on our ability to concentrate and develop an imagination. It seems we are destined to make every simple pleasure work in our hyper tricked out tech world. I am acutely aware my opinion is most certainly a "generational thing" but I have to ask at what cost are we making simple, singular and straight paths crooked, densely layered and connected? Will brave new readers immersed in rich media visually bombarded with facts and figures have the time to contemplate and be swept away by the beauty of a well written sentence? On the bright side... it looks like book publishers of the future will need a cadre of talented information designers.
