The Independent Film Channel has been promoting their new series Portlandia, starring Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live comedian) and Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney guitarist), with a string of YouTube videos. The campaign provides a strong example of how free online media outlets such as Facebook and YouTube are supplementing (possibly supplanting) traditional media—what will be an on-going theme of Art Direction II this semester. And one ad in particular provides a nice, albeit satirical, example of how we want UNT Communication Design students to hunger for news and cultural information.
