There's an interesting article over on Fast Company's blog about a budding, previously unpublished illustrator, named Andrew Kolb and the power of the "interwebs" promoting self authored spec work. Good lessons about proactivity, self authorship, copyright laws, self promotion and the power of design blogs. I won't spoil it for you… you'll have to go read it. I do think it's a great time for young designers and illustrators to launch careers. Finding audiences for your work is a click away… assuming you've honed your skills and your work is compelling to gaze upon.
